Letter to ‘Haunted Times’ Magazine

Bad Information…

-Cap’n Casper

As I mentioned in the last show, I had occasion to send a friendly letter to the magazine Haunted Times a few months back. I had picked up the Summer 2008 edition during a trip to the bookstore. My first thought was ‘wow, this is something I could contribute to…’. My opinion soon changed after perusing a couple of articles within, and in an effort to increase the accuracy of the information they had presented I decided to write the following:

The TRUTH about IR (Infrared) Thermometers

-by Cap’n Casper

I really hate to write this post, but I’ve seen too much erroneous information presented both on the web and in print to let it go any longer. There seems to be a serious misunderstanding regarding the actual method of operation of IR thermometers, so let’s clear the air! Read More…

The pervasiveness of ‘Para-Mania’

-cap’n casper, founder of KCPR

‘Ghost Hunters’, ‘Paranormal State’, and ‘Hauntings’. These are just a few of the cable programs centered around modern interest in the paranormal. In recent years, the rise of public concern with regards to the paranormal has skyrocketed not unlike the spiritual movement during the turn of the twentieth century. The last couple of decades have given birth to a ‘new-age’ unlike any other. Amidst growing concerns about the welfare of the planet, the animal kingdom, and humanity in general many people have turned to spirituality and mysticism as a means of making sense of current events. This attention has begun to diminish even further the serious nature of true paranormal research. Time for a new view

coffeyville-12In modern times, the subject of ‘ghosts’ has become nearly as sensational as American Idol. In looking back at the field of paranormal phenomena and parapsychology, it seems that no serious progress has been made since the mid-1970s with advances in ITC research. Could it be that these subjects have been trivialized to the point that it may very well be impossible to advance to the next level of understanding without a serious shift in the way we view phenomena in our world?

Perhaps this shift will be quantum… That is, maybe what is needed is a total overhaul of the way we look at spirituality and science. Mind, matter, and the universe are related in ways that science has only touched upon.

Just a thought for the day. Stay tuned for more!!
