Thinking about the ‘dead’ …

When hypothesizing about dis-incarnate spirits and entities, we must carefully examine all available evidence (anecdotal and otherwise) to properly discern the direction of our queries. If one wishes to simply ascertain data supporting the existence (or lack thereof) of transcendence of the physical plane, the search is most assuredly over. Pouring over the numerous accounts [...]

So, you’ve investigated a site. . . now what can you learn?
That is the ultimate question, but it all depends on what you’re trying to find. Some approach the investigation with the purpose of ‘making contact’ with someone who has passed into the ‘beyond’, others hope to find for themselves proof of the [...]

Dear, Mr. Presnell
Wow! After listining to your programs 1,2,and 3 on EVP,I was very impressed. Your conversation with David Rountree was very informative. Nice to know he is in my neighborhood. I was also glad to hear you touch on the quantum prospects as well.
I have attempted to get EVP in several locations. One night I tried it in a very busy Pub in Hopwell NJ. I didnt ask out loud but with only thoughts for any entity present to talk into my recorder. I was having dinner with my co founder at the time. we caried on a conversation about a book I was writing at the time. She was giving me suggestions and the whole time we were talking the recorder was on. The next day I listend to the playback. I was suprised to find what I feel may be EVP in two places during our conversation. Although there is much conversation and noise in the backround the EVPs stand out and are very close to the mic. The strange thing about these EVPs is the harmony. it sounds like two voices speaking in harmoney saying the exact same thing at the same time with just a little delay between the two. The first says, ” Cant wait to hear that song.” The second is a little more important. My co founder was makeing a suggestion. right after that you hear, “Try it.” again in harmoney. So I put this question to you. I was using a Sony-ICD-P520 recorder at the time. what is your opinion on this.
Your shows so far are very informative. I look forward to future broadcasts. I will be listining.

Don Wilson

Don,
Thanks for listening and also for your kind words! I did some checking on that particular recorder. While it is well-suited for recording a lecture or class, its maximum sampling rate is 16kHz. Just to give a perspective, a CD is sampled at 44.1kHz. What happens is that for any given sample rate, your maximum frequency is approximately half of the sample rate. So…. that Sony recorder is only capturing audio up to about 8kHz. You can effectively use this kind of device, but remember that it is easier to work with a recording when the initial sample is of the highest quality. The small, inexpensive recorders also tend to exhibit a lot of noise as well. I do realize, though that at some point everyone has to mitigate quality versus price.
I use personally (even to record the podcast) the Zoom H2 by Samson. Whilst it carries about a $149 price tag new on eBay, the features and quality make it wirth while. I encourage you to at least check it out. There are many options when it comes to recording audio, and you might find my article on recording equipment helpful. http://kcparanormal.net/2008/10/16/recording-audio/
Thanks again, and feel free to let me know if you need any help!
